2012 Audi A3 E-Tron Concept Quality Performance

The Audi A3 e-tron concept design represents the typical Audi language of sporty elegance. The single-frame grille is integrated into the front end, giving it a sculptured look. Its frame is made of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP), and the transversely mounted, three-dimensional aluminum louvers create a visual effect that emphasizes the showcar’s width. The headlights merge with the beveled upper corners of the single-frame, forming a transition that marks the starting point of the prominently accentuated lines of the engine hood.

The A3 E-Tron Concept headlights represent a new stage of evolution in LED technology, a groundbreaking innovation from Audi. They become broader as they extend outward, and a line underneath makes them seem to float on air. Above the front spoiler is a full-length air intake, also made of CFRP, framed by a metal clasp. The spoiler features a splitter that increases the downforce on the front wheels. The intelligent interplay between surfaces and lines also defines the tail end of the A3 e-tron concept. The broad, flat tail lights are sculptured and culminate in a point on the inside, and the tailgate bears an elegant spoiler edge.

The rear apron includes a diffuser insert of CFRP and metal, which in turn surrounds the two large tailpipes for the exhaust system. Working together, the gasoline engine and electric motor accelerate the notchback to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 6.8 seconds, then on to 231 km/h (143.54 mph). A regulated oil pump, the intelligent Audi thermal management system, a start-stop system and an energy recovery system  technologies from the brand’s modular efficiency platform all contribute to this high efficiency.

At the heart of the A3 e-tron concept are the lithium-ion batteries located behind the rear seats. A3 E-Tron Concept With a charge capacity of 12 kWh, they give the notchback a range of up to 54 km (34 miles) on electric power alone. The batteries are charged by the standard energy recovery system when the car is in motion or directly from a household power socket when it is parked. This means that in most cases, the car is entirely emission-free in city driving. The front suspension a MacPherson construction with a separate axle support has a track measuring a full 1,572 millimeters (61.89 in). The rack-and-pinion steering is extremely efficient because its electromechanical drive system requires no energy when driving straight ahead.

The audi A3 E-Tron Concept four-link rear suspension with its 1,542-millimeter (60.71-in) track is likewise fixed to a subframe. Its control arms made of high-strength steel enable the suspension to absorb longitudinal and lateral forces separately. The shock absorbers and coil springs are mounted separately from each other.

2011 Audi A5 Coupe and Cabriolet Luxury Dynamic Styling Cars

The First generation Audi A5 is the third coupe in Audi's line-up, next to the second-generation TT and the R8. The A5 has adopted many design elements of the Nuvolari quattro concept. The A5 debuted with the 3.2-litre FSI V6 engine delivering 265 PS (195 kW; 261 hp). The Audi A5 marks Audi's return to the mid-size coupé market since the (B3/B4) Audi 80-based Coupe model ended production in 1996. The B6/B7 A4 spawned a convertible variant but not a coupé. For the fourth generation A4 (B8), Audi decided to spin off the cabriolet and new coupé into a nameplate of its own as the A5. The new Audi A5 were based on the Audi MLP platform (Modular Longitudinal Platform) which is planned to underpin the next generation A6 and A8.It is slotted between the audi a4 and larger audi a6 The platform is notable for its departure from Audi's trademark "overhung" engine mounting position over the front axle, in favour of the powertrain being located behind the front axle - in an effort to achieve a more even weight distribution (52:48)between the front and rear wheels.

An extraordinary attention to detail sets the A5 apart from the pack. Every interior aspect has been carefully considered; even the aluminum trim has been seamlessly integrated into the body. Open air afi cionados will fi nd that nothing has been lost in translation with the cabriolet: the acoustic soft top keeps noise to a minimum when closed, and can open in a mere 15 seconds at driving speeds up to 50 km/h. Further, a set of rear folding seats, an industry fi rst in a cabriolet, ensures plenty of room
for additional cargo.

Presumably the R18 won’t still be painted Vader Black when it makes its competitive debut at the Spa-Francorchamps 6 hours in Belgium in May. But the flat-out evil look surely makes an impression. We know next to nothing about aerodynamics, but it’s clear there are some wild calculations are going on here.

2011 Audi S5 Coupe and 2011 Audi S5 Cabriolet Quattro

2011 Audi S5 Reviews, Specs and Prices

The Audi S5 was released in coupé form to the public at the same time as the A5. The Audi S5 Sportback was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, and is expected to go on sale in the spring of 2010 with a MSRP of €57,900. The S5 coupé currently retains a 4.2 litre Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI) V8 engine that produces 354 hp (264 kW), while the S5 Cabriolet and Sportback have a supercharged 3.0 litre TFSI V6 engine producing 330 HP which is shared with the Audi S4 sedan and avant. The Audi S5 coupé will be receiving the supercharged 3.0 litre TFSI V6 in 2011 for the 2012 model year.

2011 Audi S5
The Audi S5, in comparison to the AUDI A5, features a more aggressive fascia (as do most Audi S and RS models), including a string of LED daytime running lights around the bi-Xenon headlamps and a vertically striped chrome grille. In many markets, the S5 includes as standard, 19" alloy wheels with a five-parallel spoke design, bigger brakes, heated leather sport seats, and other convenience features, some of which are available only as an option on the A5. Changes for 2010 model year include LED tail lamps, the introduction of Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels and new optional equipment such as Leather/Alcantara seats. The 2011 Audi S5 is available in coupe and soft-top convertible (Cabriolet) body styles. Both feature Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels.

The Prestige can be equipped with optional adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot warning system, a power rear sunshade (coupe) and the Audi Drive Select package, which includes a sport rear differential and driver-selectable settings for an adjustable suspension, throttle, transmission and steering. The 2011 Audi S5 is available as a coupe or a convertible, the latter of which is known as the Cabriolet. Though both are similarly equipped and come with all-wheel drive, each has a significantly different character due to unique engine and transmission choices.

2011 Audi S5 Interior

The coupe gets a more traditional configuration, with a melodic 354-horsepower V8 feeding its power through a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The Cabriolet gets a more modern design, with a 333-hp supercharged V6 that matches the V8's acceleration potential but betters its gas mileage thanks in part to a high-tech seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission.
